Oklahoma DUI Loss of License
Shortly after a DUI arrest, the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety will suspend your license—unless you submit an appeal within 15 days. Because this is an administrative action rather than a criminal one, your license may be suspended even before going to court to face your DUI charges.
Getting Your Driver's License Back
Oklahoma allows drivers arrested for DUI to request an administrative hearing in order to contest their license suspension. If this hearing is successful, you will regain your driving privileges immediately. If you do not win the hearing, on the other hand, you will have to wait until your suspension is over to get your license reinstated.
There are a number of conditions that must be met to get your license back after a DUI arrest. For example, you will be responsible for paying a reinstatement fee, completing a substance abuse assessment, and installing an ignition interlock device in your vehicle, depending on the number of prior DUIs on your record.
